Outrageous Hair!

August 28, 2017

Ancient civilations have an enteresting history when it comes to hair. Egyptian hairstyles depended on the wealth, age and social group. Young adults before they become of age, would have a shaved head but would leave a small curl on the side of their head, named 'Lock of Youth', to symbolise their age. Chinese hairstyles varied depending on the age of the woman and her marital status. Girls and unmarried women would usually wear their hair long and braided, it was considered disrespectful to cut hair because it was inherited from their parents. Married women would wear their hair the opporisite having it up with a loose curl. In Africa hair styles represented different meanings to each tribe. Masai women would shave their heads when married to symbolize a new beginning. Zema style came across outrageous hair we couldn't wait to share with you!
